As part of IndII’s effort to support the revitalisation program of DKI Jakarta public bus transport, an awareness event was held on 24 August 2016. The objectives of this event were to inform the wider community about the introduction of low floor accessible buses on Sutan-juHI route and gain feedback. This is a demonstration project connecting Taman Suropati, Tugu Tani, Juanda Station and Hotel Indonesia Roundabout. All speakers from DKI Jakarta Transport Agency, BPTJ, Trisakti University and the Advocacy Working Group for Accessibility delivered presentations on the role of their respective organisations. Around 62 participants from relevant government institutions, academia, representatives from different communities, DFAT, IndII consultants and the media had a question and answer session and were able to provide further feedback. Of particular importance was the recognition that disabled people across Jakarta should be given better transport facilities through the introduction of new accessible vehicles and improved infrastructure.
